W. FISHER & Co. embarked in the piano business in this city. They are today the oldest piano house in Jackson county. During their first year they adopted a one price policy, to which they have steadfastly adhered. They have ever declined to offer stencil and commercial pianos, handling only instruments of known merit. They were the first to show a player piano here, early in 1908. Mr. Fisher is a player enthusiast and has always taken a great interest in and given much study to these instruments. He has also been watching and studying for years the reproducer in its evolutions and when same was perfected and accepted as practical for the home, his firm immediately placed one of these wonderful pianos in their store. For fifteen years this firm has specialized in tested violins, placing many of unusual merit, some at very moderate prices, others as high as $150.00 On a violin costing as much as $100.00, they will supply one on approval, Mr. Fisher states. In June of this year, this old reliable firm launched a mail order business and supply everything musical. They publish and send out monthly a sixteen page illustrated folder of current musical merchandise at Chicago prices, and they pay the freight, Mr. Fisher says. You can select any musical instrument from their catalogue showing everything musical, from the cheapest that's good to the best that's made, get it in a week and have time payments on same if you wish, and a guarantee of satisfaction, or money refunded, from the manufacturer and your home merchant, Fisher & Co. This goes the mail order house one better, declares Mr. Fisher. Additional Comments: Transcribed by Mary Riseling from grandfather C. E. RISELING's collection of old newspapers.
