The Daily Independent Newspaper, Murphysboro, IL May 20, 1930


Earl POWELL, a St. Louis colored man, was in the city jail today and Police
Chief Joe BOSTON was returneding to Ed HOPKINS' cleaning shop in 17th street
several cloaks and dresses Powell alelgedly stole their some days ago.  CHief
Boston collected coats and dresses, some of them fine ones, in "Red Row" in the
flats, where Powell allegedly sold the garments and gave them to colored women.
