Obituary of Diza (Glenn) OZBURN, Jackson County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Karima Southern Illinois Herald Carbondale, IL 10 Feb 1894 p 1, c. 3 [Murphysboro Independent, Monday] Died, at her home in Murphysboro on Saturday evening, February 3, of an illness of four weeks, Diza OZBURN, ___ years. Diza OZBURN was born in Jackson County near where the city of Murphysboro now stands. The county was quite sparse in those days, and almost an underbrush covered the entire county. She was the daughter of Isaac and DiZA GLENN. OZBURN Ős mother and the wife of Dr. John LOGAN were sisters. When Mrs. OZBURN was three years of age, her parents died and she was taken into the Logan household and lived with the late Gen. John A. LOGAN and M. LOGAN of this city, and was cherished as a sister by them. In 1845 she was united in marriage to Lindorff OZBURN, who was at the time _____ in 1864 was colonel of the 31st regiment Illinois volunteers, Gen. LoganŐs old regiment. To them were born nine children, five of whom survive; they are John L. Ozburn, _____ OZBURN, and Miss Lou OZBURN of Murphysboro; Mrs. J. P. ROBARTS, of Mount____, Alexander M. OZBURN, of St. Louis, MO. Mrs. OZBURN had never united with any religious denomination, but was an excellent woman, charitable and highly regarded by all who knew her. A large circle of relatives and friends mourn the loss of this excellent woman, and the sympathy of the entire community goes to them in the hour of their bereavement.
