KERLEY IN CHURCH CEREMONY AT WOOD RIVER SUNDAY Miss Betty BAUMLER, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. H. J. BAUMLER of Clay street, and James R. KERLEY, were wed Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Wood River, Ill., with the Rev. Henry W. WICHMAN, former pastor of the St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church here, reading the double ring ceremony. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers of the season and lighted tapers decorated the altar. Mrs. Jack CONNELLY of Murphysboro sang "I Love You Truly" and "Because" preceding the ceremony. Clare de Lune was played softly during the ceremony, Miss Dolores HUBBARD presided at the organ and played the traditional wedding march as the former Miss BAUMLER entered the church with her father, H. J. BAUMLER, who gave her in marriage. She wore a white linen street length dress with white accessories. Her only jewelry was a double strand of pearls. Her flowers were red rosebuds fashioned in a shoulder corsage. Miss Marie BAUMLER, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a two piece yellow linen dress with white accessories and a corsage of talisman roses. Mrs. Elmer LEWIS, close friend of the bride, served as bridesmaid, and wore a blue linen dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. H. J. BAUMLER, mother of the bride, wore a black and white sheer dress with contrasting accessories and a corsage of red rosebuds. Mrs. J. B. KERLEY, mother of the bridegroom, wore a blue sheer dress with black accessories and a red rosebud corsage. Mrs. Marie MILEUR and Mrs. Lena STRUCK, grandmothers of the bride, both wore black and corsages of pink rosebuds. The bridegroom's attendants were Lloyd KERLEY, brother of the bridegroom, and Tommy WRIGHT of Murphysboro. Immediately following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served to the immediate family and the wedding party at Randalls in Alton, Ill. Mrs. KERLEY was graduated from Murphysboro Township High School with the class of 1941. She attended S.I.N.U. and is a member of Gamma Theta Upsilon, national geography fraternity. She has taught school in Highland, Ill., for two years having taught one year in Murphysboro and has been a cashier at Marlow's theatre. She is an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church. Mr. KERLEY was graduated from Murphysboro Township High School with the class of 1939 and has been in the Navy six years with five years overseas. He holds the rank of Chief Quarter Master in the U.S. Navy. He is a member of the First Baptist Church. He is also affiliated with the F.O.E. in Bremerton, Wash. Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Mr. & Mrs. Charles FERGUSON of Alton, Mr. & Mrs. Iver OAKES and daughter, Alice Marie, Mrs. Charles BROWN and son, Jackie, Mrs. W. R. JONES, all of East St. Louis, Misses Alice and Claire KACH of Highland, Ill., Misses Florina and Marilyn ERDMANN of Alton.
