Jackson County, Illinois , marriage Hall - Allison Murphysboro, 07 October 1896 Wedded For Life Mr. Sylvester HALL and Miss Elizabeth ALLISON United in Marriage Yesterday Afternoon The Lutheran church was the scene yesterday of another popular wedding. The contracting parties were Mr. Sylvester HALL, of Birmingham, Ala., and Miss Elizabeth Neal ALLISON of this city. The ceremony occurred at 3 p.m., Rev. W. LITZELL, pastor of the church, officiating. The church was beautifully decorated with potted plants, ferns and flowers of the season. The wedding march was begun at 2:30 and at 3 o'clock sharp, the happy couple was made man and wife. Messrs. Neal ROBESON, of St. Louis, and W. S. SPRAGUE, of Birmingham, Ala., acted as best men. Misses Marguerite HILL, of this city, and Jessie NEAL, of Dallas Texas were the lovely bridesmaids. Messrs Ralph ALLISON, brother of the bride and Frank ROBESON, of St. Louis were the ushers. A large crowd was present to witness the ceremony. Many handsome and valuable presents were given. Immediately following the ceremony the bridal party were driven to the Illinois Central depot, where they took the train for St. Louis. They will reach home (Birmingham) tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m., where they will be "at home" to their many friends. A score of their friends were at the depot to bid them God speed on their journey through life. As they boarded the train they were treated to a shower of rice, which was quite a surprise to the groom Miss ALLISON was one of Murphysboro's most popular young ladies and her husband is indeed fortunate in hi prize. Their acquaintance was formed while she was in Birmingham on a visit to her sister. Mr. HALL is a worthy gentleman of that city and has a polished appearance.
