Obituary of Eugene Dale DILL Obits: The Carmi Times, 12 August 2002, Jasper County, IL http://www.carmitimes.com Eugene Dale Dill NEWTON Eugene Dale Dill, 74, Newton, formerly of Carmi, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002 at home. Mr. Dill was born June 30, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Raymond and Marie Dill. He married Mary Lou Lamp on June 28, 1953, and she survives. He graduated from Carmi Township High School in 1947, and after working for several years as a florist for Stein's Flowers in Carmi, he entered Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Mr. Dill earned a bachelor of science degree in education from SIU-Carbondale and then a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and a sixth-year specialist from SIU. Mr. Dill worked in the field of education in both White and Jasper counties. He was a member of Scott Avenue Christian Church, a life member of Carmi Masonic Lodge No. 272 and was active in the Retired Teachers Association and the Kingdom Builders. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gregory J. Dill and Lisa of Greenup, and Timothy R. and Gina Dill of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandchildren, Amanda Marie Dill and Nicholas Kocher Dill of Greenup; one stepgrandson, Justin Larkin of Baton Rouge, La.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Frances Dill of San Diego, Calif., and Roy and Nobuko of Deltona, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at White County Memorial Garden near Carmi.
