Obituary of Ezra CORNWELL, Jasper County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Ezra Cornwell   Tuesday, 2 January 1940, Newton (IL) Press   Ezra Cornwell passed away at his home in Newton, Sunday morning, after an extended illness.  He was born January 16, 1864 near latona, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cornwell, and had resided all of his life in Jasper county. He is survived by eleven children, Willis Cornwell of Dieterich vicinity, Mrs. Minnie Shamhart of Decatur, Mrs. Lulu Matlock of latham, Roy, Miss Daisy and John Cornwell of Newton, Grant Cornwell, address unknown, Clarence Cornwell and Mrs. Maude Boyd of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Cordia Skelton of Chicago, and Mrs. Nellie Sills of Los Angeles, California; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.  He was the last member of his family. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Reese Funeral Home and burial will be in Trexler cemetery near Kedron.  Rev. J. D. Shouse of Altamont will officiate, assisted by Rev. E. L.
