Obituary of James BOURLAND, Jefferson County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Giles In a recent local paper I noticed the obituary of this person, stating that he was born in Mt. Vernon, IL and thought it might be of interest to someone on this list. There is a small photogr with the article and I will be glad to scan and e-mail it to anyone interested in it, if they will send the request to me and not the list. It is not a surname I am personally researching. Nancy Giles James A. Bourland, 93, of Fontana died June 19, 2002, at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana. Mr. Bourland was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., and lived in Fontana for 52 years. He served in the U.S Navy with the Sea Bees during World War II. After he retired from Kaiser Steel, where he worked for 23 years, he owned and operated Fontana Gun Repair. Mr. Bourland was also a member of Community Church, Fontana. He was married for over 50 years to Sarah Emma Bourland who preceded him in death in 1979. He then was married almost 20 years to Adeline Bourland who also preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Jimmie L. Bourland of Fontana; stepdaughter, Jane Dean of Fontana; sisters Allie Beckham of Fontana, Goldie Knox, of Illinois; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Ave., Bloomington [CA] 92316. Interment will also be at Green Acres Memorial Park. Mr. Bourland will be remembered as a kind, loving, generous person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
