Obituary of Mary Angeline Elmore ASKEY, Jefferson County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Misty Flanagan Times Leader Newspaper Obituary Mary Angeline Askey, daughter of James W. and Cathern Elmore, was born July 27, 1860, and after an illness of about 8 months she fell asleep in Jesus October 30, 1915, aged 55 years, 3 months and 3 days. She professed faith in Christ in Nov. 1914 and has lived a devoted Christian. During her illness she often expressed her willingness to go. She often said, " I'm resting in the hands of the Lord." She called her loved ones to her bedside and asked them to meet her in heaven. She leaves to mourn their loss a devoted companion, a mother, a sister, two brothers and one son. Three children have proceeded her to the better world. Our loss is her eternal gain. She will be missed by her large circle of friends. Died of Cancer Mrs. Mary Askey, wife of Jack Askey, living at Thackeray, died last Saturday morning at her home at that place, and was buried Sunday at Concord cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. M. Prince. Deceased had been an invalid since last February, suffering from cancer, which became so malignant as to finally cause her death. Mrs. Asey was long a resident of this city and was well and favorably known to our citizens. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her death, one son by a former marriage, John Jacobs, who have the sympathy of the community. Funeral services were conducted at Concord Sunday evening by Rev. C. M. Prince and we laid her body to rest in the cemetery at that place to await the resurrection morn. - C. M.
