Wedding, Ex-sheriff, Died Monday Collie Elsworth Wedding, who served as Sheriff of Jersey County from 1946 to 1950, died Monday afternoon, December 14, at 5:40 o'clock at the Jersey Community Hospital where he had been moved shortly before his death. Mr. Wedding had been in failing health for several months and earlier this fall had submitted to major surgery. Friends called at the Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home where funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at three o'clock with Rev. Earl Dickey, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating, Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Wedding was the father of twelve children, all of whom came to attend the final rites and his eight sons will serve as pall bearers. Mr. Wedding was a son of the late Charles H. and Caroline O. Cutler Wedding and was born in Jersey County on September 18, 1885. His age at the time of death was seventy-four years, two months and twenty-six days. In early life Mr. Wedding was affiliated with the paultry business and later engaged in farming. Because of his ill health Mr and Mrs. Wedding recently disposed of their farm in the Kane vicinity and moved to their home at 704 East Arch Street in Jerseyville. Surviving the decedent in addition to his wife, Mrs. Zoe Belva Wedding, are eight sons and four daughters. They are Charles of Seattle, Washington, Gene of Sentinel, Oklahoma, Thomas of Pleasant Hill, Quintin of the Air Force stationed at Roswell, New Mexico, Clinton of Medora, James Henry and Phillip of Godfrey, William of Jerseyville, Mrs. Belva Crain of South Ben, Indiana, Mrs. Phylis Przybylski of Chicago, Mrs. Orpha Witt of Jerseyville and Mrs. Sarah Wade of Barstow, California.
