Biography of H.B. Miner Source History of Jo Daviess County -- 1904 MINER, H. B. Postmaster. Nora, Ill., was born in the village where he now resides August 20, 1854. His parents, both natives of New York, came to Nora, Jo Daviess County, in 1839, and are now living in Warren. The father was Sheriff of the county two terms. The subject of this sketch was educated in Beloit, Wis. and Galena, Ill., and has followed farming in Nora for twenty-five years. For many years he was School Director and is now serving his second term as postmaster of Nora. For twenty-one years he was a resident of Galena, but is now thoroughly identified with the affairs of Nora. His wife, Mary A. is the daughter of R. W. Stanchfield, of Nora, and their children are: Lucy, Mary, Elizabeth, and S.K.
