NARROW ESCAPE ON MISSISSIPPI RIVER

George McGuire of Galena, had a narrow escape from drowning last Wednesday 
while driving across the river with a cord of wood on a wagon. When about half 
way across the river the wagon broke through the ice, fortunately the horses 
did not break through. Help being near he soon had the wagon out.
