Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa, February 4, 1886
Thomas Gordon, an old time Galenian, and former proprietor of Gordon’s Ferry 
landing, died at his home in Boone, Iowa, on the 13th inst., aged 80 years. 
His remains were brought back to Galena for interment last Friday. The 
deceased came to Galena in 1839, and removed from thence to Boone about ten 
years ago. Mr. Gordon was a good and honest man, and was highly esteemed by 
all who knew him.
