He saw Napolean and his army overrun and despoil his country, and though only a boy then, was filled with the patriotic desire to shoulder a musket and help vanquish the audacious and arch disturber of the peace, liberty and tranquility of the world. Mr. Kucheman was married in 1824; emigrated to America and settled in Galena, Illinois in 1846. His wife died in 1860, and since then he has resided most of the time with his son, Mr. Christ Kucheman of this city.
