Transcribed by Cindy Pegg Wiley Simmons was born in what is now Simpson Township September 23, 1837. His father, also named Wiley Simmons, was born in Bertie County, NC September 24, 1801 the son of Thomas Simmons and Mary Ann Walker. Wiley Simmons, Sr. was raised in Tennessee. He married Mary A. Erving, daughter of Hezekia Erving. Mary was born December 11, 1802 and died in Bloomfield Township on their farm April 11, 1869. Wiley migrated from Tennessee to Missouri in 1832 and remained there until 1836 when he moved with his family to Johnson County, IL and settled in Grantsburg Township. He purchased Government Land and built a log cabin for his family. He moved his family to Bloomfield township in 1855 and resided there until his death in 1867. Wiley Jr. married April 18, 1859 to Mary McGown born March 18, 1841 to Lewis and Sarah McGown. They had four children; Cazal who married Mahala Benson and had six children; Mary who married R. J.
