Cyde Wrex Simmons Military Notes
Sgt Clyde W. Simmons who entered service in December 1942, is serving with the
paratroop hauling and
glider towing forces in England, and participated in the invasion of France.


Clyde Wrex Simmons LC Company D , 927th signal Battalion
discharged at Fort Knox, Kentucky 2 Nov. 1945 rank of Sargent. 

Enlisted 17 Dec 1942 in Peoria Illinois. 

At first when he enlisted had something wrong with his hand and spent
about a year in US.
He was then trained in a Wire Communication Course which he was in from
March 29, 1943 to 31 Jul 1943. His job was Installer-Repairmen Telephone and
Telegraph.

Tech. field Wire Sys.
C. B. line and Sub. Ckts.

Substation Maint. 

He was assigned to the 53rd troop Carrier wing Aug. 5 1944

Normandy
Northern France
Ardennes
Rhineland

European Africian Middle eastern Theater ribbon with 7 Bronze
service stars
Good Conduct Medal
American Theater Ribbon
World War 2 Victory Medal
  

Clyde left for Europe Jan. 31 1944.
Left for the USA Oct. 18, 1945.

Camp Crower Missouri
Highland Wisconsin Co. 625 C. C. C.
Saint Petersburg Florida
