Kern - Mrs. Carrie Goodwin Kern, wife of George L. Kern 935 Logan Ave. died this morning at 8:40 at her home after a lingering illness. She was born in Crystal Lake on July 13, 1876 coming to this city to make her home in 1892 where she had since resided. She was united in marriage to Mr. Kern on Nov. 4, 1897. Mrs. Kern was a member of the Rebekahs and a former member of the Christian church. Besides her widower, she is survivied by two sons, Ward G. Kern of Minneapolis and George V. Kern of Elgin; four daughters, Mrs. Garnet Martin of Maywood, Mrs. Ruby Sjurseth of Elgin, Mrs. Mildred Swanson of Santa Fe, N.M. and Mrs. Carolyn Huffine of Elgin; one sister Mrs. Myrtie Robison of Ortonville, Mich., and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the Norris mortuary with Rev. A. Butler Brown of the Immanuel Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in Lake Street Memorial Park.
