John B. Newville The body of Rev. John B. Newville, who passed away at Iowa City, was brought to Monmouth for burial Friday. He was formerly minister of the F. M. church in Monmouth. John Byron Newville was born in Kane County, Illinois, Nov. 3, 1853 and died Sept. 4, 1919, aged 65 years, 10 months and 1 day. He was converted when he was 15 years old, and at the age of 20, having felt the call of God to the ministry, he began that work. He served as pastor on many of the charges in the Iowa Conference of the F. M. church, also in Minnesota and North Iowa Conferences of the same church. He then spent 12 years in Canada preaching most of the time, but always on circuits. Five years ago he came back to his beloved United States, and spent four years preaching for the United Brethren people in Browerville, Minn. The last year of his life he spent with his brothers at Clear Lake, Wis. He was married first to Jennie Teel of Plymouth, Ia., with whom he lived six years. He was married again to Sadie Finkhouser of Burlington, Ia. To this union four children, were born, Carri E. Robbins, who died last fall in North Dak.; Eddis Wright, who died in Canada; Ethel May Comstock, who lives in Canada; and John Byron, who died in infancy and was buried in Monmouth and by whose side Mr. Newville desired to be buried. His last marriage was in Monmouth, Ia., to Sara Nettie Cromwell, Sept. 9, 1889. Of this family, besides the wife, he leaves six children, John Edward of Toledo, Ohio; Jessie N. Wright of Canada; Seth Warren, who is still in France; Orpha I. of Hudson, Wis.; Orville M. of Toledo, 0hio; and James B.,who is here with his mother. During the last thirty years of his life he was a great sufferer in body, many times wishing to depart and be with God, whom he greatly loved. About three weeks ago he said, God told him he had "finished his course" and "kept the faith." Since that time his mind has been at rest and he has felt that his work was done. The funeral was held from the M. E. church, Rev. Peter Koch officiatings. The remains were laid to rest in the Monmouth cemetery.
