Obituary of Simon FRIGON, Kankakee County, Illinois 3 February 1999 Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Elaine Frigone Name of Deceased: Simon Frigon Name of Newspaper: St. Ann Record Date of Newspaper: 27 Jul 1913 Obituary: Looks Like Foul Play A former resident of this place found floating in Lake Michigan. Simon Frigon, of Chicago Lawn left his home about 8 o'clock on the morning of June 4th to go to Englewood on business, and was never seen again until his dead body was found in the lake. When he did not return in the evening inquiry was made and it was found that he had not arrived at his intended destination, and still further search and inquiry by his family with the assistance of the police officials failed to reveal any traces of him, until about two weeks afterwards when his body was found by the crew of a tugboat. The body was brought to the morgue and an inquest held; nothing was brought out at the investigation that could lead even to an identification. All this time no stone was left unturned to solve the mystery by his son, Edmund of Chicago and L. A. Ducharme, of St. Anne. Identification was only made possible by his teeth, fingernails and a leg which had formerly been broken. Evidence of foul play was found by an ugly wound on the right temple, and the absence of his watch, some money, a bunch of keys and papers, which it was positively known he had when last seen alive. For the past twelve years deceased had resided in Chicago, but for years previous owned farms near Beaverville, for two years he conducted a meat market and for twelve years a drug store here. His many friends in this section mourn his untimely end. The deceased was 60 years of age and a member of the Modern Woodman Camp and Mutual Protective League of St. Anne. A widow and five children; Harvey of Kankakee, Mrs. L. A. Ducharme of St. Anne; Mrs. Fred Frechette; Edmund and Miss Lue Frigon of Chicago mourn him. The funeral was held Wednesday at Beaverville from the Catholic Church, internment being in the Catholic cemetery.
