Hemp, 75, of Ashkum, will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, with a 2:30 p.m. prayer service, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Ashkum. Rev. James Holup will officiate. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, L'Erable. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. He died Wednesday (May 3, 2006) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee. Mr. Hemp was a farmer in the Ashkum area for many years. He had also worked in the maintenance department at Prairieview Nursing Home. He was born July 21, 1930, in Danforth, the son of William and Etta Zachgo Hemp. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and farming. Surviving are his wife, the former Eugenia Patnaude, whom he married Aug. 25, 1951, in Bradley; one son, Steve Hemp (Susan Hanson) of Ashkum; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Dan Lane of Milford, Kathie and Bill Topel of Darien, Nancy and Scott Schunke of Watseka; one brother and sister-in- law, DeWayne and Margaret Hemp of Milford; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marilyn and Basil Kilbreth of Herscher and Karen Berg of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
