Obituary of Mrs Alta B JOHNSON, Kendall County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Wanda Reed MRS. ALTA B. JOHNSON After a number of years of severe illness, and had more than her share of the troubles of life, Mrs. Alta B. Johnson, of this city, aged 42 years, passed away at her home, early Wednesday morning, December 19, 1934. Mrs. Johnson has been tenderly cared for for some months by Mrs. Stone and many good neighbors and friends. It was back in July 11, 1928 (August) when a tradgedy happened to the Johnson Family. At that time the husband and father, Alfred, was instantly killed in a thrashing machine explision on the George Dannewitz farm. Since that time Mrs. Johnson like the true mother she was, brought up the children to the very best of her ability, until a fatal illness overtook her. She leaves three splendid children, two sons, Howard and Arthur, and a daughter Florence. Howard is at present in a CCC Camp at Elmhurst, but was able to attend the funeral. Florence is at the present time a patient at the DeKalb County Tuberculosis Sanitarium. One sister survives, Mrs. J. Gregg of Dahlgren, Illinois. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson were held at Cooper Chapel, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. Lester Santon in charge. Music was furnished by Mesdames Ivy Swanquist, Jacob Nelson, MRs. Ida Mans and Mrs. Jennie Bogardus. Burial was in the Plano Cemetery beside her husband. Card of Thanks We wish to thank our many friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy extended to us in the death of our mother and sister, Rev. Stanton and for the music furnished by Mrs. Iva Swanquist, Mrs. Jacob Nelson, Mrs. Ida Means and Mrs. Jennie Bogardus and for the beautiful floral offerings and use of cars.
