The John Henry Ewing Family This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Susan Wolfe Taken from William G. Cutler's HISTORY of the STATE of KANSAS , BUTLER COUNTY, Part 5 pg 30 8 John Henry Ewing, merchant, came to Kansas in 1870, engaging in trade in Topeka; in 1871 located in El Dorado where he has since been engaged extensively in mercantile pursuits. Mr. Ewing is a native of Pennsylvania, and was born in Somerset County, September 23,1832, residing for a time in Ohio, and for several years was a resident of Knoxville, Illinois where he was married to Miss Cornelia Weeks. They have three children: William, Charles and Albert. Mr. Ewing is a Mason, an Odd Fellow and a member of the Knights of Honor. This is the lineage that we will follow in more depth for the rest of this CD, however we will branch off to other families as the time and place indicates. So hang on, because here we go into another part of this Genealogy sequence. John Henry Ewing was the only son that we know of, from Alexander and Jane Campbell Ewing. He had two sisters that will be covered first, then John's family will be covered last. The first sister was named Mary Louise Ewing Keightly I recently have found his family, so there will inserts from Ray Breece, and Phyllis Rice. They had many pictures and little information, so we have had fun putting the "pieces together by the Internet". I will certainly say though, it is very tedious and time consuming to do it this way. Have fun and off we go to Mary Lousie Ewing Keightley and her family. *************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
