Davies, who died April 24, 1942 at the home of her son, John Victor, in Detroit. Wife of the late Rev. Davies and for many years a resident of Libertyville, Mrs. Davies succumbed after a lingering illness at the age of 79 years. Mrs. Davies was born on the present August Wirtz homestead in Fremont Township on October 16, 1863, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hurlbut Swan. She married John P. Davies, a Methodist minister, November 17, 1887, whom ill health caused to abandon his last charge at Wilmington, Illinois and removed to Libertyville in 1911 where she has since resided with the exception of the past two years. Two children survive, Victor, Detroit and Gertrude, Chicago. Mrs. Davies was a sincere and gracious women of rare worth and high attainment withal possessing the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit. She was a musician of unusual ability and was of invaluable assistance to her husband in directing music in the various parishes he served. Burial was from the Osborn funeral home with interment at Lakeside Cemetery. Services were in charge of the Rev. Leon L. Hammitt of the Libertyville Methodist church. Rev Hammitt, incidentally, was a former friend of Rev Davies, having made his acquaintance when he first entered the ministry.
