Woertz, 89, of 2015 North Ave., died yesterday afternoon in Victory Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. His daughter, Mrs. Katherine Angle of Haines City, Fla., died October 5 in Waukegan. Mr. Woertz, who was one of the first settlers on the near west side of Waukegan, came here in 1915 when he began operation of the Glen Rock Bottling Works, 834 Glen Rock ae. In 1936 he retired from his business, operated now by his sons, Frank and Victor. BORN IN GERMANY Mr. Woertz was born at Dusseldorf, Germany, on May 18, 1867. In 1879 he migrated to Elgin, where at the turn of the century he became owner and operator of a beverage business. He soon became a leading beverage industrial leader. In addition of his sons, he leaves two daughters, Miss Anna, and Mrs. Lillian Holden, both of Waukegan; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Woertz was preceded in death by wife wife, Caroline, 1930, the mother of his children; and his second wife, Duane, 1953; two sons, Henry Jr. and Benjamin; and Mrs. Angle, who had lived one and a half years in Waukegan. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel at 408 N Sheridan Rd., the Rev A. C. Bartz of the Immanuel Lutheran Church to officiate. Burial will be in the Northshore Garden of Memories. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
