Former Contractor, Are Announced Rites for August Jahnke, 75, of 929 Hickory st., who suffered fatal injuries in a fall down basement steps of his home at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, will be held from the home at 2 p.m. tomorrow, the Rev. G.A. Swanburg officiating. Burial will be in the North Shore Garden of Memories. Jahnke, a widely known Waukegan resident many years and mason-contractor until his retirement five years ago, was taken to the Victory Memorial hospital and died at 10 p.m. Sunday without regaining consciousness. He suffered a skull fracture. Born in Pammein, Germany, he came to this country with his parents when he was 3. He has lived Waukegan. Eight children survive. THey are Edward Jahnke, North Chicago; Mrs. Helen Brenton, Burlington, Wis.; Henry Jahnke, Waukegan; Alfred Jahnke, Milwaukee; Mrs. Adele Hanson, Waukegan; August Jahnke, Kenosha; George Jahnke, Rusk, Texas; and Mrs. Lyda Heyer, Waukegan. Two daughters died in infancy. Other survivors are one brother, William, Milwaukee, and three sisters, Mrs. Frances Durand, living in Washington state; Mrs. Mathilda Powers, Racine, and Mrs. Emma Sruraska, Milwaukee.
