John D. Jennings, Senator from Dubuque county, died, age 38 years. Mrs. Jennings was the daughter of Felix St. Vrain, who was at an early day agent for the Sac and Foxes at Rock Island, and was killed near Buffalo Grove, Illinois, in the Black Hawk War. She was adopted into the family of Gen. Jones, of this city, and was married in August, 1861. She leaves an affectionate husband and a family of six children, one but an infant a few days old. On Saturday morning last she seemed out of danger, and Mr. Jennings, who had been at home during her illness, returned to Des Moines. But she was suddenly taken with a relapse, and notwithstanding every means that medical skill could devise, she gradually kept sinking, and having received at the hands of Bishop Smyth, the sacraments of the Catholic Church, she passed away in hope of a blessed resurrection. She was a woman of accomplishments, a valuable member of society, an affectionate wife, a devoted mother and an exemplary Christian. The funeral will take place from the Cathedral, on Friday, the 5th inst., at 9 o'clock A. M.
