In her, another of Waukegan's pioneers passed away. Coming to Waukegan in the 1880's, she with her husband and daughter lived at the old Hunter place on the north side. Later they bought land on lower Market street, owning part of the property on which the Warner Sugar Refinery was built. August Lerche, the husband, died six years ago. For a year Mrs. Lerche had been ailing, but due to her advanced age no real relief could be gotten. She throughly was prepared for death, that in her directions to the family concerning her burial she chose her pallbearers and even the hymns from the hymnbook which are to be sung at the funeral. For many years she was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church and of the Ladies' Aid Society there. Born in Lobstaedt, Saxony, Germany, Jan. 18, 1838, she came to this country in 1879, first settling in Chicago, but soon coming to Waukegan where she has since resided. Funeral Friday from the house at 1:30, thense to the Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment in the family lot, Oakwood.
