Comm. Earl Kenneth Olsen, 39 years old, has been killed in action in the southwest Pacific and buried at sea, his mother, Mrs. Anna Olsen, 70, of 238 Ridgeland avenue, Waukegan, learned yesterday. Mrs. Olsen has four other sons in the Navy. They are Commander Clarence E., on duty in Washington, D.C., and Commander Charles E., Lieut. Comm. Robert, and Lieut. Albert R., on duty in the Pacific. Her daughter, Anna, is the wife of Lieut. Comm. Henry G. Munson, who also has been on duty in the Pacific. Her husband, Lieut. Hjalmer E. Olsen, U.S.N. retired, died last Aug. 15. "My boy died a hero," Mrs. Olsen said. "All my boys have been heros....just like Hjalmer." In his last letter to his mother, Earl had said "we are having our share of the entertainment and we feel the more the merrier and the sooner it will be over."
