The death took place not so much because of the actual burns as because of the nervous shock and the fact that Mrs. Shaffert swallowed poisonous vapors and flames while her garments were burning. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Women's Relief Corps will attend in a body, gathering at the home at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Shaffert was a woman of rare goodness, industry and thrift. She worked exceedingly hard all her life, and by exemplary habits won the respect of all who knew her. Her loss is widely felt. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps and one of its most active coworkers. One of the sad things connected with the sad death is that Mr. Shaffert had barely reached his home after a visit to the hospital, where he was informed that there was hope when he received a telephone message that she was dead.
