Sturm was born near Long Grove September 8, 1889 and died at the home of his cousin July 21, 1905. His parents both dying when quite young, he was taken to the home of his uncle, Jacob Sturm, Sr., where he was educated and had since lived. While celebrating July 4th in company with his fellow friends he was accidently shot in the hand by a small pistol. The wound not being painful not much attention was paid to it at first. But in a day or two he went to the doctor and had it dressed and was getting along nicely when it suddenly began to grow worse and symptoms of lock-jaw were shown. He gradually failed until Friday morning he breathed his last despite all the loving hands and skill could do. The funeral was held at his late home Sunday, where a large circle of friends and relatives gathered to pay their last respects. The flower laden casket borne by six of his young friends was placed in the cemetery adjoining the church were his loved ones have gone before.
