Dominic Brugger, OSB, former sub-prior of St. Bede Abbey and charter member of the community, died on May 18, 1948. Father Dopminic was born in Erie, Pa., on September 22, 1875. He received his early schooling in Erie and at St. Vincent’s Archabbey. He made his profession of solemn vows on July 11, 1896, and was ordained to the priesthood on July 5, 1901. During his years at St Bede, Father Dominic prefected, taught physics for forty-five yearss, and served as sub-prior of the abbey under Abbots Vincent, Justus and Lawrence.
