Freedom Township/March 29,1889/Many names/LaSalle County We are having delightful spring weather now, and the farmers are busy sowing oats. Don't forget Rev. Thomas lecture that is to be at the West Serena M. E. church tonight. Mrs. Olmstead is building a wood house; Soll Garver is doing the carpenter work. Mrs. Beckwith died at her residence last Thursday morning. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at the West Serena church. Frank Whitmore went to Indiana Sunday to attend the funeral of his brother. Mrs. Rowe has been very poorly for some time. Call Christy says he has a picnic breaking colts. Byron Roberts was burning grass in his garden the other day, and the fire got the upperhand of him, making a total wreck of his hedge fence along the road. The other night at the meeting the boys had a hearty laugh at Mr. Chaiaman's expense. Mr. Younge, of Baltimore, is visiting Will Bowers this week. Quite a number from this part attended the fox hunt at Ottawa. Rumor says that Andrew Quinn is seen going east quite often of late on Sunday evening. Dan Winfle sawed wood Thursday of this week. A large crowd attended the Binder Twine Trust meeting at the new school house the other night. There were some very interesting speeches made on the twine trust. They are to hold a meeting at Ottawa on the 5th of April. All the farmers in the surrounding towns are invited to attend this meeting. Saturday night, April 6th, there is to be a meeting at the Hess school house to see about organizing a grange. all are invited to attend for it is an interesting matter.
