Newspaper article from unknown paper in LaSalle County dated January 12, 1887 Oyster suppers seem to have been the "order of the day" for the last week, the first being held at G.D. Shaver where a load of twenty five or more from Ottawa partook of them freely along with other refreshments. Another was held at the residence of D.K. Shaver, on Tuesday evening, and was partaken of by about fifty persons. We were glad to note among the number two of our oldest settlers- Mrs. Walbridge, and Mrs. Brundage. Another "little Shaver" may be added to the small list of Shaver's, a little girl having arrived at Frank Shavers early Thursday morning. Pass around the cigars, Frank. We hope some of our sportsmen have grown wiser if not sadder men. One day, not long since, they spied a hole in the bank of the creek down by Johnny Parr's with suspicious looking tracks leading into it. They all concluded they had holded a fox, and stationed Johnny and ex-Sheriff Milligan to watch the hole. After watching and fasting for a day and a half they finally routed the ___, not the fox, but a lizard and a rabbit. ------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
