Taylor/Hess/Bateman/LaSalle/paper article 1889 Some of our town people were treated to a free show Monday evening by two of Ottawa's young "yahues," who had loaded up with a little too much electricity they imagined Billy Taylor and Lou Hess had moved the race track to Marseilles. After making four or five straight heats around the principal streets of town without a break they pulled up to Marshal Bateman's stand. Walt. not being a good judge of hoss racing waltzed them up to Judge O.B.G.'s police court, who after hearing the evidence and taking a fresh chew of tobacco declared the horse a ringer and fined the drivers $16.20; "time, 2:35." ------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
