What is termed a slip or roll was on the left side of his room and spread out into the room for a distance of 16 feet. The blast fired had loosened the coal into the slip on the left pillar, but a portion of the coal was hanging on the slip, he started to mine it off, when five minutes after a large piece of rock fell on him killing him instantly. He left a widow and ten children, five of whom are able to take care of themselves.
