Obituary for Ephraim Shaver Ephraim Shaver was born in Rockingham Co., VA, Feb. 4th 1812. He came west as far as Middletown, Ind, in 1837 and was there married to Mary E. Murphin, January 29th 1838, thence came to Illinois, arriving here Jan. 1st 1839. He had been a man of more than ordinary physical strength and robust health, having scarcely seen a sick day since boyhood; but the past six months he had been in failing health caused by a complication of diseases and old age, and died at his home in Rutland last Friday afternoon at 8 O'clock P.M., having been a resident of this county nearly half a century. Funeral services were held at this late residence Monday noon. Rev. Holmes officiated, and a very large number of his old neighbors, friends and relatives were present, not withstanding the weather was very disagreeable. He leaves surviving him a widow and nine grown up sons and daughters, two of whom- an unmarried son and daughter- are at home. He was a man universally respected and possessed many sterling qualities; was an indulgent father, kind friend, and an accommodating neighbor. ------------------------------------------------------------- UGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organiza- tions or persons.
