The deceased was wedging coal down where a slip was running parallel with the face of the coal. The slip continued up through the roof stratum, overlaying the coal and as the coal was loosened by the wedge, the slate and coal fell simultaneously and before he could get from under it, and he was crushed. When removed to his home it was found that his back was broken and he had sustained internal injuries. He died on December 12, leaving a widow and one child.
