Times of April 10th, which contains the following account of the sudden death at his residence in that place of Mr. Jason Peck, a former well-known resident of this city. Mr. Peck left Oswego about 19 years ago. "Our citizens were much surprised to hear, this afternoon, of the death of our well known citizen Jason Peck. Mr. Peck has been ailing during the winter, but was able to be about and his numerous friends in the city hoped that in the spring he would recover his wonted vigor. He was uptown on Wednesday and though not by any means strong there was no intimation in his appearance of his approaching and sudden demise. "To-day Mr. De la Chappelle of the new glass company arrived in the city and wished to complete arrangements for the sinking of an artesian well. M. Peck sent a note to Mr. Ballard and the latter went down about 2:30 this afternoon to see him. Mr. Peck was very week[sic] and Mrs. Peck said that he could not raise anything from his lungs. He spoke to Mr. Ballard about the business for a minute or so when he commenced to choke. A violet hemorrhage set in and in a few moments he died in the arms of his wife and Mr. Ballard, before the attending physician, Dr. Bascom, could reach the house.
