Another Pioneer Passes On - Slathiell Snell was born in Clearmont County, 
Ohio, on August 28, 1830.  When twenty years of age he come to this country 
and was united in marriage the year following to Miss Harriet Jane Trout.  
In 1878 Mr. Snell and family moved to Filmore County, Nebraska, but returned 
to this county in 1880 and continued to reside here until death called him 
on Feb. 13, 1912, at the ripe old age of eighty-two.  Eleven children were 
born to Mr. and Mrs. Snell, five of whom preceded their father to the grave.  
The six living are James, of Winfalls, Ind; Martin of Iowa; Amelia Cudaback, 
of Milan, Washington; Walter of Deer Park township; Susan Inkley, of Troy 
Grove and the aged wife of Troy Grove.  Mr. Snell has been in poor health 
for three years on account of old age and other ailments and he naturally 
grew weaker until death called him.  The funeral was held at his son's home 
in Deer Park township, at one o'clock, Feb. 15, and the remains were taken 
to the Hill Cemetery for burial.  Rev. McClug of Tonica preached the 
funeral.
