Celesta Coy Obituary, Lee County, Illinois Celesta Coy was born in Hornby, Stuben county, New York, May 30, 1839 and died at her home in Amboy February 27, 1929 at the age of 89 years, eight months and 28 days. At the age of 11 years she made the slow and ardorous journey from her home in New York State to Lee county, IL. The mode of travel from Chicago was with team and wagon and was a mere initiation into the hardships of pioneer life that followed. They located on the farm now occupied by Carl Sartorius. Her mother died when she was 14 years old and left in her care a sister 7 years old and a brother 3 years old. She gave them a mother's care until she was married to Caleb Green, July 24, 1859 and the young couple moved at once to the home where she passed away. Her husband proceeded her in death March 25, 1907. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters. They are: Randall M., Norman H., (deceased), Alva E., Fannie G. Buckingham and Alice E. Nicholson. There are ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
