The following is from the Amboy News. Miss Florence Cross was born in Rutland, IL. January 8, 1864. When a child she came with her parents to Amboy, and has made this her home ever since. Her father, Rev. Charles Cross, was supply of the Amboy Baptist Church for some time. He and his wife died about nineteen years ago. Mis Cross became a memeber of the church in Amboy; and to the close of her life was loyal and true to its interests. For some time her health had been failing and after a lingering illness, which was borne with great patience and fortitude, she passed quietly and peacefully to her rest, Saturday evening, August 24, 1912. The sorrowing ones are her brother, Frank Cross of Amboy and her sister Mrs. C. M. Allen of Pomona, CA and other relatives. Those from a distance at the funeral were Mrs. C.M. Allen, and Mr. E.L. Cross of Ackley, IA. and George A Cross of Eldora, IA, nephews of the deceased. The funeral services took place at her late home, north of Amboy, Tuesday at 2:00 pm conducted by Robert Wallace, a former pastor of the Baptist church. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
