About November 15, 1919 from Amboy newspaper WILL OF MRS. IRA LEWIS IS PROBATED IN COUNTY COURT The will of (Mrs. Ira Lewis) was admitted to probate in the county court Monday and E.B. Raymond was appointed executor. The provisions of the will leave substantial sums for many heirs and the First Methodist church of this city was generously remembered. The will provides that the executor shall pay into the treasury of the city of Dixon the sum of $100 which shall be used for the upkeep of the Lewis lot in Oakwood cemetery. Other Beneficiaries Legacies ranging from $50 to $2,000 each are given to the following relatives and personal friends of the deceased and of her husband, the late Ira W. Mrs. Elizabeth Freeland, Dixon Helen Corbin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.P.Corbin, Dixon Sallie Carr, 1089 Jefferson St. Los Angeles, CA To the Women's Home Missionary Society of the First Methodist church of Dixon, IL, $1,000 is bequeathed to be used as follows: $100 for the Mitchell Home of North Carolina $100 for the Navajo Indian School of New Mexico $500 for the Peek Orphanage near Polo, to be used toward new building The remaining $300 is to be used by the Society as it deems best. To the trustees of the First Methodist church of Dixon, $1,000 is left for a memorial window for Ira W. Lewis and wife to be placed on the north side of the auditorium opposite the John Dement memorial window. Jewelry, silverware, china, wearing apparel and personal effects are left to Hattie and Florence Mulkins, Anna Stainbrook, Mrs. Lloyd G. Lewis and Pauline Lewis. The will provides that after all of the above is paid, the rest, residue and remainder of the estate, real, personal, and mixed, $5,000 be given to the board of trustees of the First Methodist church of Dixon to be invested in securities as a permanent endowment fund. The remainder, after the payment of the $5,000 is to be divided equally between the Women's Home Missionary society of the church. The will bears the date of November 15, 1919, and E.B.
