ELLEN MCCULLOUGH The funeral services of Mrs. Ellen McCullough, who died at her home Saturday, Sept. 17, 1910 were held at the M.E. church Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Wilson of Fairbury, officiating, assisted by Rev. Bell of Cropsey. The deceased was born in Howard Center Co., Pa., June 6, 1842, being 68 years, 3 months, and 11 day old. She lived in her native home until 1847, when she removed with her parents to Kendall Co., Ill. where she spent her youth. In 1858 she was married to Ira McCullough, who preceded her to our heavenly home just three years ago the 16th of May. Ten children were born to this union, two having died in infancy, and Mrs. Maude Whitney who was taken home June 20, 1910. The living are: Mrs. Della Stewart, Genoa, Ill.; Mrs. Dora Kent, of Cropsey; Mrs. Gertrude Stewart , of Hinckley; Mrs. Helen Wright, Smithshire; Mrs. Blanche Lough, Newark; Mrs. Clara Goins, Genoa, and Rufus McCullough, Cropsey. In 1861 Mr. and Mrs. McCullough came to the vicinity of Cropsey, which has been their home since. Forty nine years ago they found this country a raw prairie and an unbroken wilderness. They, with others of the early settlers, have turned this vast prairie into the most productive grain field in the wide world. Among those who attended the funeral from a distance were the following: Mrs. Hatch, Dekalb; Mrs. Nash, Genoa; Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart, Hinckley; Mrs. Arthur Steward, Genoa; Mrs. Lydia Boyer, DeKalb; Mrs. Hayes Goins, Genoa; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kent, Opdyke; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kent, Opdyke; Mrs. Ada Lough, Genoa; Rev. and Mrs. F.M. Wright, Smithshire; Mr. and Mrs. David Rager and daughter, Plattsville.
