Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association August 22, 1970, Shirley A. Endress and Daniel W. Bock were married in Sparland, Illinois. They settled in Lincoln, Illinois at 320 Northgate. Shirley was born and raised in rural Marshall County, Illinois, being educated at Sparland grade and high school. In 1966 she graduated from Illinois State University and later earned a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. Shirley's parents were Edward and Beulah Peugh endress, both from the rural Sparland area. Dan was born and raised in rural Logan County, graduated from Broadwell Consolidated Grade School and Lincoln Community High School. In 1964, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree and later received his Master's in Education. He has also received his teaching certification and supervisor certificate. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Upon graduation, Shirley was employed by Princeton elementary Schools as a fifth grade teacher though June 1970. In July 1970, she joined the staff at Lincoln Elementary District #27 as a fifth grade teacher at Washington- Monroe School. After several years she switched to third grade and is presently in that position. Following graduation from college, Dan began his career at Princeton Township High School as Agricultural Instructor and F. F. A. Advisor. In June 1970, he accepted the transfer to Lincoln Community High School as Ag. Teacher and FFA Advisor. In July 1971, he accepted the challenge of Consultant, Applied Biological and Agricultural Occupations, with the Division of Vocational & Technical Educational - State of Illinois. Fall, 1975, found Dan starting his own business - Bock & Associates, a real estate Appraisal, Investment Consultant, Management and Tax Preparation office. After settling in Lincoln, both found themselves involved in many community activities, including American Association of University Women; Lincoln Jr. Woman's Club; P.E.O. Chapter J.W.; Delta Kappa Gamma; Mayfair Home Extension; Community Concert Association; Community theater; Chamber of Commerce; board of Realtors - Local, Regional, and National; Jaycees - Local, regional, State, National; Alpha Tau Alpha; Gamma Sigma Delta; Illinois Foundation FFA; University of Illinois Alumni. Dan and Shirley have held various offices on Local, State and National level in different organizations. In 1975, Shirley was chosen Outstanding Youth Educator in Logan County by the Lincoln Jaycees. She was listed in Outstanding Young Women of America, 1975, 1976, and 1977. Dan is a member of the Board of Governors, National Farm and Land Institute; Blue Chip President - Lincoln Jaycees; listed Outstanding Young Man of America, 1976; Jaycee of the year 1970 - Princeton; Honorary State FFA Degree, 1972; holds AFLM Designation (Accredited Farm and Land Member); GRI (Graduate Realtors Institute); CRS (Certified Residential Specialists). Dan has written and published numerous publications and presently is an instructor for Illinois Association of Realtors and other groups. Traveling and attending sporting events are hobbies plus plants and woodworking. The Bocks worship in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
