Biography of Katherine Anna Marten Bock Kennedy

     Katherine Anna Marten was  born  in  Pike  County,  Illinois  in  1921  the
     youngest of Henry F. and Effie E.  (Wubben)  Marten.  In  1925  Katherine's
     family returned to Logan County to the farm seven  miles  west  of  Lincoln
     previously owned by her maternal grandparents. She has one brother,  August
     (b. 1911) living in Wright City, Missouri in 1982 and one sister Edna  Zier
     (b. 1916), living in Ft. Worth Texas  in  1982.  Another  brother  died  in
     infancy in 1915.

     Her maternal grandparents were John (b. 1853, d. 1933) and Epka  (b.  1852,
     d. 1926) Wubben who came to Logan County from Upleward,  Germany  in  1881;
     her paternal grandparents Fred (b. 1859, d. 1927)  and  Anna  b.  1860,  d.
     1928) arrived in Wright City,  Missouri  from  Witlage,  Germany  in  1882.
     Katherine's father Henry F. Marten was born in  1885  (died  in  1967)  and
     raised near Wright City, Missouri and came to  Illinois  in  1908  and  her
     mother, Effie was born in 1889 in New Holland  and  they  were  married  in
     Lincoln on August 24, 1910.

     Katherine attended elementary school at the old Fairland School,  graduated
     from Lincoln High School and was in the class of 1941 at  Lincoln  College.
     She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Luther League and  choir.
     She was elected president of Logan County Rural Youth when it was organized
     in 1938.

     Katherine married Wilbur M. Bock of  Beason  and  they  were  farming  near
     Beason when their three daughters were born - Alice Faye,  Nancy  Jane  and
     Linda Lee. In  1952  the  family  moved  to  Denver,  Colorado.  Her  three
     daughters each graduated from Denver Lutheran High School. Alice Bock Brown
     and her husband live at Palmyra, Illinois with their seven children.  Nancy
     Bock Maki graduated from the University of Denver, Denver Colorado and  she
     and her husband live in Indonesia; and Linda Bock  Duchrow  graduated  from
     the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado and she and her husband  live
     in the Denver area. Effie Wubben Marten resides at  St.  Clara's  Manor  in
     Lincoln. Katherine and her husband, Albert  R.  Kennedy,  live  in  Denver,
     Colorado.
