Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association Henry, one of three sons of Adolph A. Laun and Wilhelmine (Minnie) Bock Laun, was born on October 1, 1989. He lived his entire life in Logan County ion the Hartsburg and New Holland area. He had two brothers, Howard and George Laun, one sister Marie Laun Johnson White. Henry's father, Adolph, died on June 1, 1899, at the age of thirty-three, leaving the responsibility of raising four children to his wife Minnie. She carried on with running the farm with the help of her sons. Henry took over running the family farm in 1919. Minnie died in 1937. Henry married Marie Groth, also of Logan County, on November 19, 1919. Two children were born to this household, Kermit of New Holland and Audrey Tomlin, Greenview, Illinois. They had six grandchildren: Randy and Joy Tomlin, Lora carter, Greg Laun, Jill Rimington, and Christie Hinch. Marie's parents were Ferdinand Groth 1857 - 1930 and Ernastina Karnasch Groth 1895 - 1937. They were both born in Germany. They were married in 1878, and spent ten years of their married life in Germany before coming to America. They farmed in Logan County in the Burtonview area for thirty years before retiring to Lincoln. Marie died on July 6, 1948. Henry married Dorothy Wiesenmeyer Sanridge, September 9, 1952. Dorothy was the daughter of Louis and Mary Pattison Wiesenmeyer of Springfield, Illinois and the granddaughter of Mrs. Charles Wiesenmeyer (Magdalene Wackerle) of Lincoln, Illinois. Henry had three step-children: Earl Sandridge, Springfield; Bob Sandridge, Athens; and Mary Gheen, Petersburg. After retiring from farming Henry kept active in the community by doing machine work, welding and construction work. He died on February 15, 1969.
