Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association A lifetime Logan County resident, Kermit [Dale] Laun was born in Lincoln, August 14, 1920. He is the only son of Henry [Adolph] and Marie Groth Laun. His sister Audrey [Mae] Laun Tomlin resided in Greenview [Menard County] Illinois in 1982. Kermit was educated in the New Holland schools, graduated from New Holland High School in 1938. He married Ruth Josephine Osborn who is also a native of New Holland, a daughter of Walter and Mildred Bracey Osborn. Her father, Walter, was raised in Mason County, one of four sons of Frank and Mary Jane Fletcher Osborn. Mildred is the daughter of John and Lydia Huffman Bracey. Josephine (Jo) also has a sister, Lydia Lemme in Lincoln Illinois. Kermit is a trustee and secretary of the New Holland Fire Protection District and trustee of Sheridan Township. He is active in the Zion Lutheran Church, and held offices such as chairman, elder and secretary of the congregation. Kermit and Jo have resided on a family farm one-half mile north of New Holland since their marriage in 1942. The following children were raised in this home and educated in the New Holland schools: Gregory (1947), Jill Marie (1950), and Christie Jo (1952). Gregory graduated from Southern Illinois Univeristy, with a degree in Agriculture. He entered the Armed Forces in 1970 serving with the 37th Army Air Defence Command Headquarters. He was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and was discharged in 1972. He was employed in 1982 at the Illinois Office of Tourism, Department of Business and Economic Development as a photographer and resided in Springfield, Illinois. Jill Marie married James Rimington of Elmwood, Illinois. They were both music majors at Bradley University. In 1982, Jim was teaching music in the J.D. Darnall High School in Geneseo, Illinois where they resided. They have tow children: Angela Marie and James Ryan Rimington. Christie Jo married Steve Hinch of Bloomington, Illinois. She is an Interior Decorator for the Sherwin Williams Paints and Interiors in Lincoln. She graduated from Midstate College in Peoria. Steve is employed at M>I>I> Inc as a cabinetmaker. They lived in a country home one mile north of New Holland which belonged to her grandmother, Mildren Osborn, and has been in the family since the land was settled by Brice and Mary Jane Caldwell in 1855. They have one son, Bradley Robert Hinch.
