Biography of Darrell Shockey and Ella Fulcher

Darrell Shockey and Ella Fulcher married November 4, 1922 and began farming 
land that was in the Wayne Hanner family and continued for thirty years, 1926 
until 1955.  When they retired from farming around 1955, they moved to the 
Fulcher family homeplace, Mt. Fulcher, for their retirement years.  Darrell 
Shockey died about 1968.  Ella remained at Mt. Fulcher keeping busy with her 
art and gardens until her death in 1979.

Darrell and Ella had one son, Jerry.  He attended twelve years of school and 
then joined the Marines in 1944.  He was among the group that occupied 
Nagasaki Japan in September 1945.  After being discharged from the military in 
1946, he attended Lincoln College.  He married Anna Louise Buckstegge in 
1948.  Jerry and Anna had four children: Gail who is a nursing instructor at 
St. John’s Hospital in Springfield; J.B. is employed by the Cincinnati 
Insurance Company in Ohio; Roger is an X-Ray technician with a hospital in 
Portland, Maine; and Melissa is a travel agent with First Class Travel in 
Lincoln, Illinois.  In 1960, Jerry joined the Dean Harris Insurance Agency.  
Following the death of Dean Harris in 1965, Jerry acquired the agency.  In 
1970 this agency merged with Hodnett Agency.  Jerry became president of the 
Harris Hodnett Agency in Lincoln, Illinois.  Jerry and Anna reside in Lincoln, 
Illinois.
