Stephenson Samuel Musick, a farmer of Eminence Township, Logan County, Illinois, was a native of Logan County born February 01, 1843. He was the son of Herod Musick and Mary "Polly" Warrick. His father was a native of Ohio and his mother a native of Indiana. The Musick family came to Logan County among the early settlers having seven children. Samuel was reared on a farm and educated in the common schools of Logan County. In August 1862, he enlisted in Company C, One Hundred and Sixth Illinois Infantry. Shortly after his enlistment he was appointed Corporal and served in this position until his discharge. In his two years service, he was principally engaged in guard duty in several different locations and States. He married Nelly McFarland of Portage City, Wisconsin on October 01, 1867 in Logan County, Illinois (book 2, page 35, Lic. 1833). They had four children one of which died at a young age - Mabel, Willard, John. Samuel owned a fine farm of 160 acres under a high state of cultivation. He served as school director of his district for many years.
