Stephenson, Jr. May 2006 Naturalization Record Minors, Vol. C, pg 25 Petition, Final Oath & Certificate State of Illinois Logan County In the matter of the Naturalization of Frederick Bock an alien. To the Honorable Stephen A. Foley Judge of the County Court of Logan County: Your petitioner Frederick Bock an alien, a native of Germany respectfully represents unto your Honor, that he arrived in the United States a minor, under the age of twenty-one; that he resided in the United States for three years preceding his arrival at the age of twenty-one years; that he has continued to reside therein to the time of his making this, his application to be admitted a citizen thereof; and that he has arrived at the age of twenty- one years; that he has resided in the United States five years and upwards, to- wit; for the term of 10 years, including the three years of his minority, and in the State of Illinois for 9 years; that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly the allegiance and fidelity which he in anywise owes to The Emperor of Germany whereof he was heretofore a citizen or subject, and for two years next preceding, it has been BONA FIDE his intention to become a citizen of the United States. Frederick Bock State of Illinois Logan County Frederick Bock being duly sworn, upon his oath, says that the above petition is true. Subscribed and sworn before me, this 1 day of Nov A.D. 1880 Frederick Bock William Forney, Clerk State of Illinois Logan County We Louis Ropers and F. Smith of the County of Logan and State of Illinois, having been first duly sworn, do depose and say, that we have been personally acquainted with Frederick Bock as alien, who has applied to be admitted as a Naturalized Citizen of the United States, for the space of five years last past and upwards; that during the whole of said time he has continued to reside within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States, and one year at least, in the said State of Illinois, preceding the day of the date hereof; and that as far as our knowledge and observation has extended, he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, and appears to be attached to the principles contained in the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; and that for two years next preceding, it has been bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States. Louis Ropers Subscribed and sworn to in open Court, this F. Smith 1 day of Nov. A. D. 1880 William Forney, Clerk State of Illinois Logan County I, Frederick Bock do solemnly swear, (affirm,) in the presence of Almighty God, that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiances and fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and more particularly the allegiance and fidelity I in anywise owe to The Emperor of Germany whereof I was heretofore a citizen or subject. A.D. 1880 William Forney, Clerk UNITED STATES OF AMERICA State of Illinois County of Logan Be it Remembered, that on the First day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty personally appeared before Hon. Stephen A. Foley Presiding Judge of the County Court of the County of Logan and State aforesaid, (the same being a Court of Record, having and exercising , common law jurisdiction, a Seal and a Clerk), and sitting judicially for the dispatch of business at the Court House in Lincoln in the county aforesaid Frederick Bock an alien above the age of twenty-one years, and applied to the said Court to be admitted to become a naturalized citizen of the United States of America, pursuant to the several acts of Congress heretofore passed on the subject and the Court being satisfied, as well from the oath of the said Frederick Bock and from the testimony of Louis Ropers and F. Smith who are known to be citizens of the United States, that the said applicant arrived in the United States a minor under the age of twenty-one years, has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for and during the full term of five years, including the three years previous to his arrival at the age of twenty-one years, and one year within the State of Illinois; that, during said term of five years, he has sustained good moral character, and appeared to be attached to the principles contained in the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; and the said applicant having now here filed his declaration of intention to become a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, according to the provisions of the several Acts of Congress heretofore passed on that subject; and he having now here in open Court taken and subscribed the oath required by those laws, to support the Constitution of the United States, and to renounce and adjure all allegiance and fidelity to every Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and more particularly all allegiance which he may in anywise owe to The Emperor of Germany whereof he was heretofore a subject. IT IS THEREUPON CONSIDERED, ORDERED AND ADJUDGED BY THE COURT, that the said Frederick Bock. be admitted to all and singular, the rights, privileges and immunities of a naturalized citizen of the United States, and that the same be certified by the Clerk of this Court, under the Seal of the Court Accordingly. IN TESTAMONY WHEREOF, the Seal of the Court is heretofore affixed, at the Clerk’s office in Lincoln this 1st day of November A.D. 1880 and of the Independence of the United States the One Hundred and five.
